Whatcha Reading Wednesday

I love to read, but having kids and many other things going on at once, I find it challenging to give myself that time to just sit and read a book. I carry one in my purse, but I find myself taking it out less and less. I feel strongly that role modeling a love for reading is very important for my family, therefore I am really going all out to make reading more of a priority. I know sometimes I feel stuck on what to read next, so hopefully I can share what I have been reading and if I liked it and I will get feedback from anyone else who reads! Here is what I am reading now: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell I am a few chapters in and I am hooked! It has extra appeal because Rainbow Rowell is a local author. I have been dying to get my hands on one of her books for a long time and my thoughtful husband finally picked one up for me at Barnes and Noble last week! YaY! With the kids: I LOVE reading out loud to my kids. Heck, if I could, I would read to anyone's kids anytime. I love to read picture books and chapter books. I would love to have been an audio voice person who reads out loud all day in another life! I have been trying to read a book to one or a couple of the kids to keep up with reading and to have that extra special time with them. Here is what we are reading: With Lauren (9 year-old, 4th grader): Saige by Jessie Haas. It is an American Girl book and it came with her Saige doll last year for her birthday. Shame on me for only getting around to reading it with her now. With Brady (8 year-old, 2nd grader): Stink and the World's Worst Super Smelly Sneakers by Megan McDonald. This is the same author who writes the Judy Moody books, only these focus on Judy's bro Stink and they are targeted for boys. My oldest read a bunch of Stink books and highly recommended them to us to read together. With Max (4 year-old, PreK) Right now he is obsessed with the classic: Little Red Riding Hood. I love reading the standards! I promise to keep up with what we think of all these books as we read them! What are you reading?
